Huisache Control
Huisache (Vachellia farnesiana) is a fast-spreading, thorn-dense legume brush common across South and Central Texas.
How to identify it
Huisache carries feathery, fern-like leaves much like mesquite, but it gives itself away in bloom: dense, bright golden-yellow puffball flowers, followed by dark, plump, rounded seed pods. Its branches are armed with paired straight thorns.

Why it’s a problem
Huisache forms thickets so thorny they're hazardous to work on foot or by ATV. It re-sprouts from the crown and reclaims pasture quickly after a mechanical clearing. That density is exactly what makes ground spraying slow and dangerous.
When a drone is the right tool (vs. a ground rig)
Nobody has to push into the thorns. The canopy of a dense thicket gets treated from above, broken brush country included, and scattered plants can be spot-treated without broadcasting over clean grass.
Best time to treat
Huisache treats best while it is actively growing with mature green leaves, generally from late spring through summer and into early fall before the leaves turn. Drought knocks its uptake down, so a stressed stand waits. A thicket this dense is a multi-season job.
Treatment cost
Thorn-dense country nobody wants to walk into is where this work pencils out. What it runs comes down to how much ground you have and how hard the stand is to get at. Ask us for a quote.
